Students in Ms. Way’s fifth-grade Block 2 math class at Coleridge Elementary are bringing math concepts to life through hands-on learning!
During an October math lesson, students used Unifix cubes to build rectangular prisms and explore the concept of volume. After constructing their models, students partnered with classmates to discuss their creations and compare the volumes of their rectangular prisms.
This interactive activity encouraged students to think critically, apply their mathematical knowledge, and explain their reasoning to others. By building, comparing, and collaborating, students strengthened their understanding of volume while developing important communication and problem-solving skills.
At Coleridge Elementary, hands-on learning opportunities like these help students connect mathematical concepts to real-world understanding—one cube at a time!
